Winetasting at La Honda Winery with Sam's ChowderMobile

The ChowderMobile is having a great time serving customers all over the Bay Area!  Join us Saturday, January 16, when we visit La Honda Winery in Redwood City from 11:00am - 5:00pm for some wine tasting!  La Honda Winery farms spectacular estate vineyards throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains.  We love that they use sustainable farming practices, producing delicious wines from old-world Cabernet to new-world Syrah.   Their wines have earned 90+ points and Double-Gold medals from the San Francisco Chronicle, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, and many prestigious wine competitions.   

Join us to taste award-winning, local wines at La Honda's spectacular Redwood City winery, and enjoy our famous Lobster Rolls, fresh and crispy Fish & Chips, Shrimp Louie and more from Sam’s ChowderMobile - available for purchase to enjoy while you sample wine.  The winetasting is free if you are a La Honda Winery Club member, or Santa Cruz Mountain 'Passport' holder, and otherwise $10. per person - but it's credited back on most wine purchases. Details below, and we hope to see you there!

Sam's Annual Photo Contest

Our 2009 Annual Photo Contest ended with a bang, and we awarded over $2,000 in cash prizes to 18 winners.   I’d like to personally congratulate Colin Haughin of El Granada who won the Grand Prize, and a total of $1,100 in cash with his stunning Best Sunset photo, shown below.  The colors are quite dramatic, and he did a great job capturing the view that so many of us get to look from Sam’s deck every day.  Our Grand Prize runner up was Jason Braun of San Francisco, who won a CompactFlash Card from SanDisk, designed for maximum performance for professional photographers (special thanks to SanDisk for their donation!).  The photos of Michael Wong from Half Moon Bay won the most awards, with five winning photos, in four categories. 

This was our first year, and it was great to see such terrific participation from photographers all over the Bay Area.  Some spectacular photos were entered and it was difficult to choose the winners – luckily we didn’t have to do it ourselves as we had a great panel of judges.  You can visit www.samschowderhouse.com to see the winners, their photos, and our judges.  Also – if you are a shutterbug, next year’s photo contest will begin in the fall, but you can start taking photos now as anything taken within a year is eligible!
